Light and darkness.

She called back up

"Just come down here!"

She was drawing onto the hard floor, making a large pentacle, then began to do various symbols inside and outside of it

As she finally finished, she stood and wiped a bit of chalk from her face with her sleeve. She pulled out several candles from her backpack and placed them at key points around the pentacle, then lit each one

"Think of this as what you did with your basement.. Mom had done one not too long ago.. I think thats why the house is still standing"

She slung the backpack over her back again, and nodded to Kal

"Okay.. What do we do now?"

Kal nodded as he finally started to understand. He looked over the pentacle as he thought over her question and slowly shook his head. He really didn't know.

"If your mother doesn't want us going after her...then...I'm not sure...I guess go back to my house and see how bad it is...I didn't look very hard...just came here after you..."

His arms resting on his knees as he looked at her looking exhausted and worn out.

She saw how tired she was, and realized just how tired she herself was. She walked up the stairs, and looked at the couch, nodding towards it

"Lets.. relax a bit first"

She put the bag beside the couch before sitting down, leaning her head back and closing her eyes

Rema sighed deeply, realizing just how tired she herself was, and leaned against the other arm of the couch, resting her head on it.

She said quietly

"We'll be safe here.."

"Rema..."

Kal begin in a very quiet whisper. Sleep was coming fast but he had to say the thought that floated to his mind.

"Thank you...for being my first...friend..."

He lifted his head slowly to smile sleepily at her.

Rema looked over at him as he spoke, and couldnt help but smile a bit herself, saying low

"No problem.."

She was slightly taken aback by his comment, but also realized, he was one of the first real friends she had outside of her homes. She smiled a bit more and before resting her head back down

Sleep was the only place Kalbert felt at peace. Nothing ever haunted his dreams no matter what happened to him while he slept. Something just looked after him when he slept, and he'd never know it.

Slowly he woke up after Rema did. He groggily looked at the arm of the couch which was now soaked with drool. He blinked a few times and sat up rubbing his eyes.

"What time is it...."

Rema looked around, seeing a clock that read 1am.

"1 in the morning"

She stood up and stretched a bit, and walked to the window to look at the slight storm outside, deffinetly nothing compared to earlier.

She wondered what happened to that man, or what to do next. Her mom simply told her not to follow..but it was just eating at her to know where she went

Kalbert yawned again and wiped his face while he let his mind wake up. He slowly remembered everything that had happened and where they were. He looked around almost fearfully as if he'd see a spirit or something but upon seeing nothing but a cold quiet house he turned his attention to Rema.

"So...your mother...She know about supernatural thing...?"

Rema nodded a bit, still staring out the window

"Yeah.. She knew quite a bit, she requested me as her adoption actually.."

She rubbed her arms slowly, and sighed lightly

"I want to know where she went.. I want to know shes safe.."

With a slow nod, Kal stood up and stretched a bit then joined her at the window looking out at the rain.

"Then...Let's go. we'll go to my house, get a few things together...if anything's left...and let's go find her."

He smiled slowly as he looked at her.

"She told you not to follow her...but she didn't say I couldn't right?"

Rema's mouth open and closed a few times, as if to protest, but she knew deep down inside she wanted to find her so badly.

"we should rest up a bit more first.. because.. I have no idea where she went.."

She was rubbing her arms, obviously nervous, and looked at him again,but didnt say anything

It was his turn to put a hand on her shoulder and smiled at her comfortingly.

"Think about where she may have...or who might know...or at the very least what direction we need to start looking in...we'll go to my house in the morning so I can get a few things..."

He glanced at the couch.

"You take the couch..."

Smiling he glanced at her then moved to lay down in front of the piece of furniture and pressed himself up against it getting comfortable.

Kal couldn't help but smile as he draped his bit of blanket over himself and pressed a little closer to the couch. He lowered his voice and asked her quietly.

"What sort of things did your mother teacher you?"

Her eyes stayed closed, her voice was low as well, as she said

"She taught me that.. its okay.. to be different, she taught me about most of the symbols, about how to use the crystal.. well, kind of. Ive actually known her for several years now and they kept giving me to another family. Finally I got here and .. and.."

She bit her lip a bit

Kal could hear something odd in her voice as she trailed off and decided it best to change the subject a little.

"The house looks like she's been fostering kids for a long time...I bet she wa-...is a great mother."

Suddenly he wondered if that was the right thing to say and frowned a little at himself.

Remas eyes closed a little tighter

"She is.. a great mother. Shes safe.."

She muttered those last two words, more to herself then anyone else

"shes safe.."

Kal whispered softly.

"We'll find her and make sure she's alright...I promise Rema..."

He didn't feel like he could go to sleep yet, he just stared forward into the dark room, clutching at the blanket a little m,ore as he whispered again.

"I promise..."

Rema nodded a little, and peeked over the couch down at him, seeing him staring at nothing. She bit her lip a bit more and said quietly

"You dont have to do all of this for me"

She was feeling guilty dragging him into everything
