Strangely enough for Kal, he laughed a little.

"It's what friends do Rema...and you're the first person to ever understand and not think I'm insane...I won't abandon you to fight this stuff alone...I promise..."

He glanced up at her with a small smile.

Rema smirked a little too

"still.. Thank you.."

She rolled onto her back and stared up at the ceiling, not saying anything else, unable to, as she slowly fell asleep, unable to stay awake any longer

Kalbert closed his eyes after that, though it took him some time before he fell asleep. When he did, he dreamed of his parents. A memory he had of them that was as far back as he could remember. Sitting around the breakfast table, just laughing and being happy. His mother nitpicking at his father's appearance while he teased her about it and making Kalbert giggle.

The memory was enough to keep the unpleasant and terrifying nightmares at bay, as they always had, but they were getting closer and closer to overcoming the happiness that dominated his heart.

As the hours passed, the sun rose slowly, and Rema woke to a hand on her shoulder, and a familiar voice, her mother

-"Rema? Why are you on the couch?"-

Rema slowly opened her eyes, looking up confused, squinting. It was a dream.. right? It had to be.

-"And who's that?"-

She looked down at Kal who was still sleeping, then back up at her mother and sat up, and quickly went to the window. Houses that had been totally gone the day before, were back. Her mouth hung open, confused, her brain trying to figure out what was going on

Kalbert mumbled a little in his sleep at the sound of voices but it wasn't until Rema jumped over him that he finally sleepily opened his eyes and blinked as he looked around. He froze as he saw a woman standing by the couch and he sat up quickly.

"W-wha..?W-who...?"

Rema looked at Kal and quickly went over to him

"None of the houses are destroyed.. Please.. tell me this is a dream.."

Her eyes obviously held an almost terror in them, something was obviously wrong, how did that happen? how was everything as if it was just a few days before?

Kalbert went to the window and stared out and blinked very slowly before looking at her mother again. He couldn't believe it either, Could it have been the spirits in his house...? Or something else...?

"H-how?"

She shook her head quickly, her mother looking a little irritated

-"Now remember.. I said I didnt mind visitors but I at least wanted a heads up.. If I saw you both sleeping on that couch though he would of been out the door"-

Her mother was a heavier woman, with a deep laugh as she shook her head

-"I'll get some breakfast while..you two.. wake up"-

She was confused at their reactions as she walked to the kitchen, Rema still staring out

"I dont.. know how this.. I.. its not.. possible..?"

"Huh...er...I wouldn't Ma'am! And breakfast would be great! Thank you!"

Despite his grateful and pleased tone that was overly forced, Kalbert looked again out the window. Slowly he shook his head and turns to look at her.

"Could...she have...done it..? A spell? Like you used to stop the Tornado before it hit us?"

Rema shook her head slowly, looking at him worridly

"I.. dont.. know.."

She slowly moved over to the couch, sitting down and rubbing her eyes

"This is.. crazy.. it cant make.."

-"Breakfast is ready kiddos, come and get it"-

She heard footsteps, and looked towards them, and had to fight to keep her jaw from dropping, her sisters who were murdered just the day before.

They looked at her strangely but just laughed amongst themselves and walked past

Kalbert didn't understand at first, until he glanced at Rema and saw her expression. Slowly it dawned on him who the girls were and he swallowed at the lump in his throat. He slowly shook his head. They couldn't get answers by waiting around. He glanced at Rema and said quietly.

"Let's go Rema...it's getting cold..."

He tried to convey in the look that he thought they should just play along for now until they could at least get alone to talk, or back to his house.

Rema nodded a bit, still staring at the doorway of the kitchen where the two girls had gone. She took a few deep breaths before walking over to the kitchen to the large table, the 3 of them sitting there, and 2 extra plates. Rema sat down at one, and looked from person to person.

"So uhm.. hows everyone doing today"

Her two sisters looked at her funny

~"Since when have you ever cared?"~

She shook her head again, and began to eat her food, not saying anymore

Following slowly and a bit bashfully behind, Kal sat down at the extra place setting and looked at the food. He poked it a few times before he started eating. He tries his best to study Rema's mother and sisters whenever he got the chance to glance at them.

Kal paid most of his attention to her mother, just waiting to be asked who he was and what he was doing there.

Strangely enough, no one even inquired to his name, no one said a word at the table. Rema didnt eat much, still so confused.

Her sisters were alive.. her mother wasnt gone.. what was going on? this was impossible..

Her sisters finished their meal and walked back upstairs, chattering amongst themselves, and Rema just kept staring down at her food

Kalbert ate quietly, still waiting for someone to say something but once her sisters went upstairs he finally decided to speak up. He looked to her mother.

"S-so...you're Rema's mother?"

The woman nodded slowly

-"Sure am! for now anyways, hopefully I can keep her around for a while, how long has it been since we met? its been a while anyways, shes a good kid"-

Rema just kept staring down at her food, not saying a word.

-"Hey, earth to rema!"-

Her head snapped up

"Oh! sorry.. uhm.. yeah.. its been.. awhile"

Kal feigned a smile and nodded as he looked from Rema to the woman and back again.

"She is a good kid..."

His eyes slowly settled onto the woman and he toyed with several ideas before coming to two. One he would save for later but for now he decided to keep talking to her.

"We were surprised to come here to no one being home last night..."

-"huh.. the girls werent here last night? I know I didnt get in until pretty late.. was so tired didnt even see you kids at the couch!"-

She laughed a bit, and finished up her food

-"But I'll have to check with the girls.. dont know why they wouldnt of been here"-

Kalbert slowly put down his fork and watched the woman. Her movements and the way she spoke, taking note of everything. He had never been good at talking to people, but talking to what could be an apparition never seemed to bother him much.

"She works late.. 3 am most of the time.."

The woman nodded with a smile

-"Got to keep the food on the table somehow.. Rema, you have a very curious friend dont you."-

She nodded a little, still poking at her food

-"Well I dont mind, I miss guests"-

With a small nod, Kal found his cheeks blushing slightly but still he pressed on.

"Where do you work? What do you do? Do you have a husband...?"

He was trying his best to catch the woman off guard and maybe lead her into something Rema knew would be wrong to prove it wasn't really her mother.

The woman raised an eyebrow

-"I work at a bingo hall, during the day I cook and clean, and do you see a man around?"-

She let out that deep laugh again and shook her head. Rema nodded a bit, knowing all that information was correct

"At least they finally gave you a raise.."

-"Yeah. It only took 5 years"-

Kal glanced at Rema with a small frown, he was rapidly running out of ideas and he didn't want to say something to really get a reaction in case this was reality and what they went through was fake. He was formulating what to ask next as he looked again at Rema to see if she had anything or at least caught on to what he was trying to do.

Rema shrugged her shoulders slightly, so confused her head was hurting. Finally, she flat out asked

"Mom.. did you do something big? Some large protective spell? Me and.. Kal here.. we.. yesterday the girls were.. "

Her voice went to a whisper

"Murdered.. the town was nearly torn apart by a storm.. and today we wake up and everything is like 2 days before.. how..?"

Her mother tilted her head, her eyes slightly narrowed

-"Really..? Huh.."-

she seemed to go deep into thought, but didnt say much else

Kalbert looked between them both swiftly, surprised by Rema just flat out asking and her mother actually thinking on it. He bit his lip a little and hide his face by drinking some milk. His eyes didn't leave her mother now and finally he whispered.

"We didn't...see or feel any magic last night either..."
