Light and darkness.

Kalbert nodded as he heard her and quietly went over to her, putting his shoulder under her arm and helping her stand, even though he had to slouch a bit to do it.

"G-good...we can g-get you into a bed...s-still wonder what happened to that man...and how he got out...must have used the window or something..."

Kalbert looked to Rema as she seemed to blank out a moment then suddenly looked very scared. He frowned and put his arm around her shoulders and led her over to the window.

"C-come on Rema...you first...I'll help you up...try and act normal so they don't take you to a hospital..."

He smiled a little at her, trying to look reassuring as he motioned up to the window where the people were waiting to help them out.

Rema didnt seem to even think much as she ran, she saw people helping others from rubble, or hugging, being happy that others houses were still standing.

She then got to her street, and saw her house.. it was one of the few still standing. It looked like the storm hit hardest in that area, as most of the houses were leveled.

She continued running towards her house and inside

"Mom!"

She called out, but there was no answer. She quickly ran upstairs, into her room, not even looking at the girls' beds, and tried hard not to think of the video, which made her shudder, and keep glancing towards the corner where she saw something on the tape.

Beside her bed, she pulled up a loose floorboard, and began to rummage through what looked like a bunch of junk under it

Kas jogged along looking at all the people who were amazed and saddened and he gulps feeling sick. Had this happened because he was holding those spirits or demons in the basement and not letting them free? Or maybe that man did it to test Rema?

He shook his head as he reached Rema's house and looked around. He smiled slightly to see the house still standing and his guilt lessened a little. He slowly made his way towards it looking around to see if he'd see Rema or her Mother, before slowly stepping into the house and calling out.

"R-Rema...?"

"Upstairs!"

She called out, pulling out several books from the floorboards, and finally, a box, that seemed to be made of a very tough metal, a lock on the front.

She pulled out a key from her large boot and unlocked it, but didnt open it yet

Kalbert went upstairs looking around at everything as if he'd never been there before even though he had. He slowly entered her room, only giving the corner where the specter was a glance before looking at her.

"Are you alright...?"

Nodding slowly, She sat on her bed, and placed the box with the key sticking out beside her. She slowly opened it, and inside was a crystal orb

"Its funny.. I never believed these things actually worked.. but I swear I saw that tornado coming, even though this city hasnt seen one for so many years"

Inside the box were several different markings

Kalbert's brow furrowed a little as he saw the orb and walked tot he edge of her bed to get a closer look at it. He noticed the markings then slowly looked to Rema.

"Is this a scrying crystal...? You can use it...?"

"I actually got it from one of my homes.. one of my mothers' siblings said I should have it, said it was worth a lot but to never sell or lose it"

She pointed from marking to marking

"Said each marking was an individual, but if I figured out what each one meant, then the crystal would open all its secrets to me.

I tried using it once.. Swore I saw that storm coming a week ago.."

Kalbert watched her point to the marks and he felt a shiver run down his back. He slowly shook his head and whispered.

"You shouldn't use it until you learn everything about it...I-If my...study is still...there we should...find out everything about it..."

He chewed on the corner of his mouth and slowly tore his eyes away from the crystal ball and looked to Rema with that almost ever present look of worry.

Rema heard that large bit of nervousness in his voice, and looked up at him, slowly closing the box

"What are you so nervous about? they cant hurt you.."

She pulled out the key and placed it back on her necklace

"Knowing the future is dangerous...very dangerous...for all we know...it could have caused the storm..."

Kalbert strangely felt irritable and not himself in the room. He kept looking around as if seeing things he didn't see. His forehead was starting to sweat as he grew more emotional and he didn't know why.

"I-I don't think I fell to well..."

Rema quickly stood, tucking the box under her arm, and grabbed his wrist, pulling him out of the room as fast as she could.

She wasnt sure what was going on, but it was scaring her a bit

"Kal..are you okay.."

Almost as soon as she pulled him from the room he started to get color back in his cheeks and stopped sweating. He breathed a little harder and rubbed at his face.

"I-I think it touched me..."

He shuddered deeply at the thought of the hand that they saw on the video actually touching him and messing with him.

She moved her hand to his cheek

"You're letting your own fears get to you, try not to think about.. it"

She wasnt sure if it was her sister, or just another spirit

"Lets.. Just go"

Her touch again, seemed to calm him down considerably. He thought it strange how much she could effect him, only knowing him for a few days. It wasn't the first time he thought of it and wouldn't be the last. He just nodded a little and asked quietly.

"Go where...? Should we try and find your mother?"

She shook her head slowly

"No.. She told me not to follow her.."

She looked down the hallway, and quickly ran down it to a room on the end, where there was a little kids room.

She climbed on the bed and reached up to a panel on the ceiling that easily slid aside

"We had to hide most of our..special items"

"Special items...?"

Kalbert was getting more and more confused by her as he followed after her.

"Where did your mother go?"

He looked up at the ceiling hiding spot curiously and a little worriedly.

Rema pulled down a backpack, which was open, and seemed to be packed with things used for rituals. She zipped it up and slung it onto her back

"somewhere safe, Im not sure where"

She still held the crystal under her arm, and looked at him

Kalbert looked over her with that constant look of concerned and tried to figure out what exactly was going on. Was her Mother into the occult? Obviously she must have been. What did she teach Rema? Did they do something to summon the tornado she prophesied? What about Rema's sisters?

Taking a slow and deep breath, Kalbert nodded and looked Rema over with a small swallow against the lump in his throat. She was more mysterious and deeper than he had ever realized before that day.

"I don't...know...what...where ..I..."

He frowned at his unable to piece together what he wanted to ask and say. He finally let out a deep breath and simply asked.

"What now Rema?"

She looked out the nearby window, before looking back at him

"Downstairs"

She quickly rushed past him and went down the stairs, then pulled up a large piece of the floorboard in the living room, which led to another set of stairs that she went down.

The room was about as big as her bedroom, and there was a single light, which she turned on, it being very dim. She began to pull things out of her bag, looking strangely calm

Kalbert worked his lip worriedly with his teeth and followed after her a few paces behind. He wasn't sure at all what she was doing but it was starting to worry him more and more. The past few days were catching up and he was a little worried that might be attracting the spirits to him.

Either way he went down into the room and stayed back by the stairs, not feeling very comfortable in underground rooms at all.

"W-what are you doing?"
