"Ya ya...a;right...don't worry none...j'st get some sleep...ain no one gonna bother ya 'ere with me..."

He rolled his eyes and wondered if she really didn't like him, or was more frustrated because she did, and didn't want too. He yawned a bit himself but forced himself to stay awake and was soon bored and started humming quietly.

Rid felt her cheeks blush the slightest, but she was facing away, hoping he wouldnt notice. She was starting to like him.. no, she couldnt. She had to forget about that, she couldnt get involved with anyone again.. its just too dangerous..

She gripped the knife harder, and took a few deep breaths, before slowly calming into her barely asleep state

Kas rested one leg on the other. His foot tapped the air as he hummed and watched the ceiling. The song was light and soothing but complex enough to keep him awake. He watched people walk by the room, each time he quieted his humming and prepared himself to jump up until they finally passed by. The hour grew late but still he forced himself to stay away.

After only a few hours, Rid sat up with a bit of a stretch and a yawn, and looked over at Kas, seeing he was still awake, and was mildly surprised

"Huh.. you are determined."

She fought a small smirk from her lips

"Get some rest now.. Im fine"

Kas had bags under his eyes and looked almost like he was a bit drunk. He looked over at her and grinned widely.

"Y'sure y'r dun wanna...r'st long'r..? I c'n stay a'ake..."

Despite what he tried to say, he slumped down into the bed, turning on his side to look at her, and his eyes were already closing slowly.

"J'st gonna..take wee kip...th'n y'ca'n sleep aga'n..."

Rid smirked a bit, and sat up, quickly moving over to his bed.

Her hand slid into her pouch, pulling out what looked like a pill, and pressed it past his lips. It was tasteless, but she whispered

"Itll help you sleep"

Without even realizing it at first, her fingers moved to brush a little hair from his face, but when she did realize it, she quickly shook her head and pulled back, sitting back on her bed

Kas mumbled something that sounded like it could have been a thank you, but it was hard to tell. His sleeping cheek almost moved to nuzzle her hand but it was gone too swiftly and he made another mumble before turning in the bed to lay on his back with his mouth open. He started to snore a little, but it was quiet and soft.

Rid chuckled lightly, and slowly moved back to her own bed, sitting cross legged on it. She watched him sleep, but kept her ears alert for any noises thatwould be considered a threat.

She seemed to go into a meditative state as she sat there, not moving a muscle, both relaxed but ready to spring at any second on an attacker

A few hours passed and when Kas woke up, he had his face all but buried in the pillow that was soaked a bit with drool. His butt stuck up in the air a bit at the odd posture and he tumbled on his side. He stretched and yawned a bit loudly before looking over at Ridell and blinked.

"Think I slept a bit long'r than I want'd..."

Rid shook her head slowly

"ITs alrite.."

She said low, watching as a few people were walking by. It was still the night, probably about 1am.

Standing and stretching a bit, she looked down at him

"Going to get a drink.."

She muttered, leaving the room without another word

Kas jumped up and stretched before running his hands though his hair and shaking himself out a bit. Whatever it was she gave him made him sleep better than he had in ages.

""ey! Wait f'r me!"

He ran after her and went down into the tavern. He grinned widely and looked around at all the people getting in their late night drinks. He waited for someone to recognize him but it had been so long no one did. So he went over to find Ridell.

Rid sat at the bar, the bartender not even having to ask what she wanted, as he slid a glass in front of her

-"Long night huh?"-

She glanced at Kas as he came down the stairs

"You have no idea.."

She nodded her head towards Kas so the bartender would look at him, and nodded

-"Finally found a lad to settle down with?"-

Rid gave him a glare that could kill if she wanted it to

-"Hey hey Im just teasing you girly.. you know that"-

Kas spotted Ridell and came up behind her. He saw the look on the bartender's face and smirked. He looked at Ridell.

"'ello hunbun...give y'r man a little kissy kiss huh?"

Kas laughed and sat next to her and looked at the bartender.

"Make me up a flame'm drag'n'hawk ya? Thanks mate"

Rid rolled her eyes and took another deep drink from her cup. The bartender went to making Kas' drink.

"Keep that up and I'll kick you out of the bed love"

She took to glancing around that inn at all the people

Kas didn't expect that comment and it made him blush a little as he grins at her.

"So tha means you'll -let- me inta y'r bed ya? Great. Let's go back upstairs!"

He set some coin down for the bartender and winked at Rid. He lowered his voice to a whisper.

"Think y'r safe 'ere Rid'll?"

Rid slowly shook her head, taking another long drink from her glass

"Im never safe.."

She whispered back. The bartender gave her a bit of a worried look, as he was scrubbing a glass

She smirked, but it was half hearted

Kas glanced at the bartender and realized his drink was on the bar. He grabbed it and took a drink then nodded.

"Wha 'e said. We'll keep ya safe. Na like some giant guy that's the size of a bear and smells like 'e washed in rotted meat is gonna come barrel'n through here."

Kas took another drink and looked at Ridell.

"There's one righ behind me aint there?"

Rid grinned, but shook her head

"Nah.."

Her eyes glanced past him, over to a man leaning against the wall, a cane that had a dragon head handle rested beside him, as he was drinking what looked like a wine, and was staring intently at rid, her eyes narrowed

"Dont recognize him.."

To his credit, Kas was pretty darn good at glancing at the man she was talking about without giving away he was actually looking at him. He took another drink of his drink and looked at her.

"Looks professon'l Wanna take'm out?"

She shook her head slowly

"Nah"

The bartender handed her another drink, and she downed the whole thing in one go

-"Hey now! Go easy."-

She slammed the glass down, as cracks rode up the side and he sighed

-"youre going to run me in the ground by making me replace all the glasses yknow.."-

Kas turned and looked at Ridell.

"Seriously love...take't easy...poor mans gotta make a live'n yknow...whatcha so work'd up about eh?"

He liked seeing her worked up no matter what it was about. Then again, he thought, he didn't like it too much when she was angry at him when she left the ship.

He grinned at her, and her eyes narrowed to slits

He grinned at her with another wink and tossed a glance back towards the man with the cane.

"Well..whate'er y'do bout'im, me and the old man 'ere got y'r back."

He jerked his thumb towards the bartender and winked at him.

The bartender raised an eyebrow, old man? He shook his head dismissively as he went back to cleaning a glass, and tossing out the one Rid broke.

The man against the wall picked up his cane, and walked past her, still staring the whole time, and as he got just past her, she suddenly turned, went to grab his cane.. but within about half a second was on the ground, coughing and gripping at her stomach, the man had hit her quite hard in the stomach with the end of his cane

Kas slipped off his stool as Ridell hit the floor and blinked at the man. He slowly shook his head and grinned.

"Now y'gone and done't Mister. Y'rightly piss'd off. Prolly tha last thing ya e'er gonna do too....pity really...y'look'd pretty bad ass."

Kas tilted his head left and right looking him over and nodded to himself.

"Think I'll use tha cane to poke cattle when I ship'm cross the sea..."
