Mikal watched the waves crash against the hull of the ship and surprisingly he didn't get startled when Ridell said his name. He turned and looked at her with a small smile, shaking his head.

The moon was rising slowly across the waves of the ocean and he pointed out to it, just sharing the sight with her.

Rid nodded slowly, watching the moon in the distance with a small smirk, preferring the night over day always.

She leaned against the railing with a small sigh,before looking at him

"Thanks.. for the .. help earlier.. "

She felt quite embarassed, unsure still of why he did it.

"Not a lot of people would.."

Mikal shrugged slightly looking down to the water. He wasn't quite sure himself and it showed on his face, but he slowly looked up at her and pointed to her heart, then nodded. As if trying to tell her he wanted to make sure she would see the man she loved. No matter the cost.

But he had no way to tell her that, nor why he felt so strongly about it. He just looked back to the ocean frowning a little.

Rid blinked at him, unsure of what he was trying to say exactly, but she nodded and looked back towards the water as well, until a crewman came up to her, tapping her shoulder

-"Ma'am?"-

She looked over her shoulder

"What is it?"

-"One of the men is acting a bit.. strange.."-

She turned around and tilted her head

"Devon?"

-"No.. Its one of ours"-

Mikal turned to look at the crewmen and frowned deeply. He made a motion with his chin, as if asking how the man meant strange. The moon rose a bit further in the sky s the waves seemed to get a little choppier.

-"He lashed out at one of our crew in their sleep, we got up in time to stop any real damage but.. Hes down in the holding cell"-

"I'll go see whats wrong.."

She glanced at Mikal, unsure of if he wanted to follow. Since she had his blood, she could smell his even from a far distance, hear his heart beating louder, everything. She rushed down the stairs and through a few doors, before getting to a room of bars, where there was a single man rocking back and forth

"Whats wrong Fal"

He wouldnt answer her, her eyes narrowed slowly

"I order you to answer"

Still not a word.

"Whats going on..?"

Noticing that she seemed to look at him differently somehow, Mikal decided to follow after her. He shuddered against the sea air, but it was the cause. The darkness..he could almost feel it. something was wrong already. Could he be on them already? They were still at least a day away from Dead Water...was it something else?

Mikal followed Ridell and pressed close to the bars of the cell, trying to get a good look at the man. His heart beat a little faster in fright of what was going on. He cast Ridell a worried glance but he had no idea what was happening either.

Rid went to open the door to go inside and see if she could get a closer look, but once she touched the bar, the man suddenly rushed at her, slamming against the bars which made her jump back, as he stared at them all, his eyes looked almost lifeless.

"Whats going on?.."

The man reached through the bars at them, as she pulled Mikal back quickly, staring with her mouth hung open a little

"...Did.. this happen when you first went out to dead water?"

Mikal was pulled back and he just stared at the poor man. He recalled back to the voyage that took them to Dead water and slowly he nodded to Ridell. The closer they got to the cursed place the more men seemed to act strangely. In the end of his whole crew four of them were dead and half a dozen more locked away, but until then he thought nothing of it, figuring it was just the rabble he had selected for the journey not where they were going.

Rid frowned as well, looking at the crewman, whispering

"This isnt going to be good.."

She backed up a bit, and looked to Mikal, almost desperatly

"What.. did you do?"

Since she had become a captain, she didnt have to face something like this, her nervousness was starting to show

Mikal watched her and reached out to take her shoulder. He pointed at the cell, then at the man. Then pointed at her eyes, then up the stairs to the deck, then to the unwell crewman. Trying to tell her to just keep watch on the crew. He then shrugs as if there was nothing else that could be done.

Meanwhile, Devon had come to an epic conclusion of what waited for them in Dead Water...but unfortunately due to the lull of the sea he forgot it as fast as he dreamed it, and it was lost forever to him.

Rid nodded slowly, and took a few deep breaths

"I'll keep an eye on them.."

The boat suddenly tilted, obviously hitting a big wave, but Rid wasnt expecting it, it throwing her back and against the wall as she flinched

"Geez.. No warning?"

She ran through the door and up the stairs onto the deck, and her jaw slowly dropped, the water being so calm before, now had huge waves

"..That cant be good either.."

Mikal ran up after her, but Devon was already on deck and amazingly he was barking out intelligent orders and when he spotted Mikal and Ridell ran over.

"Captains! We've got rough seas ahead!"

He looked at Mikal who was starting to frown.

"Just like last time...I hope this crew is experiences..."

The wind started picking up as the ship lurched up another large wave.

"We've been through worse than this."

She went back down a level and began to yell at her crew to get up on deck and help to keep them afloat.

It was just then, as each one ran past and up the stairs, she started feeling guilty, wondering if shes doomed them all

Mikal was thinking similar. In helping her had he doomed her and the rest of these people to fates as worse as his own? He shivered deeply again...something was different this time. It felt like something was on the ship, watching him. Waiting for something. It scared him whatever the feeling was.

He stumbled as he walked the deck, trying to get to the wheel knowing in rough seas it's always good to to have as many eyes and hands as possible.

Devon continued yelling out orders that were actually useful. He kept an eye on Ridell hoping the woman would be strong enough to make it to Dead Water...or all that was planned would be pointless...

Rid went back up onto deck, looking around at everyone, easily keeping her balance even though the rest of the crew was fighting to stay upright. She then began to make her way to the wheel as well, until she heard someone yell out that they were going to get hit hard. As she turned to look at the front of the ship.

They were just dipping over one wave, and she knew they would dive right into another one coming up

"Hang on to something!"

She yelled out as loud as she could, rushing up to the wheel, but only making it to the railing by the time she had to stop moving, and the boat hit the next wave hard, a huge rush of water going over the deck, easily above most of their heads

Mikal was already helping the man at the wheel, holing on to it as the water splashed around them in mad torrents. He ended up locking his arms around the wheel just to hold on and not be thrown from the ship.

Meanwhile, Devon seemed to be at the right place in the right time. Waves that washed on the deck just missed him. Broken spars and ropes narrowly missed him without him needing to dodge, and arrived at the mast to grab onto it just in time for the wave to smash them.

As the wave passed, they stayed in choppy seas, but at least 2 of the crew were now missing, and the rail where Rid was, was broken off, and she had dissapeared as well.

Rid had felt the rail start to weaken in the wave, had tried to move, but before she had a chance, it had broken, and she was smashed against the side of the ship, desperatly trying to hold onto anything, but couldnt, and then, was washed along with the wave, into the rough sea's

Mikal wiped water out of his eyes and turned to check on Ridell. He saw the railing gone and tried to yell out but only a horrid pained scream came out lost in the sound of the water. Still, Devon seemed to hear him and looked up to the wheel and they both started for the side to find her.

Unknown to everyone, as one moment Ridell was gone, and the next she was standing on deck, but time slowed to a stop. A shadow filled with pure darkness emerged from below decks. It's form was unimaginable as it moved from from person to person, moving them from harm.

It stopped by Devon only for a moment before continuing onward to Mikal. The darkness touched his shoulder and for the slightest of moments he was able to move and just glance at it before he was frozen in time again.

The dark apparition walked to the edge of the ship and floated down to the waves that too were still as a picture. It floated to where Ridell was being washed away from the ship and it reached down and picked her up in shadowed arms. Together they floated back up to the deck of the ship, and the shadow gently stood her up next to Mikal. It seemed to linger next to her fora few moments, as if debating letting her catch the small glimpse it had given Mikal, but it didn't.

It crept back below decks and to the cargo hold. Once it was settled in again, time blinked and started again as if nothing had happened...

Rid blinked, gripping the wheel, wondering why she had been holding her breath, as she coughed a bit, shaking her head. She was confused, something had happened, but she couldnt place it, so she ignored it for now.

She looked over at Mikal and Devon, yelling above the sound of the water

"how long is this going to be going on?"

Mikal had gone deathly pale. It was there for a moment. Something so close to the nightmare...but it wasn't the same...it was something worse...far worse...he couldn't move, just gripping the rail int error.

Devon yelled out.

"It should calm soon! we have to keep going!"

Mikal stared at the deck of the ship, as if expecting hell itself to open up on them.

Rid saw how pale Mikal had gotten, and moved over to him, looking at him strangely

"What is it?"

She called out, as the boat shook again from another wave. She looked off in the distance, unsure of how long it would take to get to somewhere safe, but they continued to go through it

Mikal just shook his head, there was no way he could even try to explain. At least not at the moment. He just shook his head a second time and gripping anything in sight went down below to just hide himself in her cabin to wait for calmer seas.

Devon rushed up to Ridell and yelled out over the maelstrom.

"We'll be through soon! Hang in there Captain!"

Rid was surprised that he called her captain, but also wasnt about to complain. She nodded to him, seeing her crewman at the wheel barely hanging on. She rushed over and took the wheel herself, pointing for him to go down under the deck, as he gladly did.

She pushed on through, taking the moment to think, on why she was doing it. Her eyes closed, stinging from the salt in the water, but she pictured Kas, pictured the times they had together, reminding herself she had to save him, knowing he would of done the same for her.

Mikal sat in the corner of Ridell's cabin, his knees pulled up close as he hugged them. He saw it. Some...thing dark and evil. It had been there next to him, breathing down on him. He shook as the ship rose and fell on the waves. What had it done? Was it the thing that saved Ridell?

One moment she was gone, presumably tossed in the sea, the next she was standing next to him as if she always had been. Or was it part of being a vampire? Did she get tossed overboard then simply flew back on deck? She didn't seem bothered much by the ordeal.

His heart sped up as he thought on what it could have been, but it was when the shadow seemed to reappear in front of him again that sent it racing. His mouth opened int error as it floated closer. Something in the back of his mind told him he should be calm and accept what the shadow wished of him, but the visions of what had happened that day so long ago...

He struggled and fought but it seemed as if invisible hands grasped his arms and pulled him to his feet. He yelled wordlessly as the shadow seemed to encompass him and invade him. His blood boiled and his heart beat loudly into his ears as the pain and terror was finally enough for him to let out a scream that tore through his throat and into the ship.
